Transport
1. Transportation will only be provided for ACOC competitors with the following arrangement :
Buses will depart from Wu Kai Sha Youth Village(2 Chun On Street, Ma On Shan) at 0730 hours towards Wong Shek Pier and then traveled by ferry to Kau Lau Wan at 0830 hours. For return journey, the Jai Do will depart from Kau Lau Wan at 1500 hours and then traveled by coaches to Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Camp with brief stop at Sai Kung Town., Please be punctual.
2. Transportation will not be provided for CL-2 competitors. Competitors may take ferries departing from Wong Shek Pier and Ma Liu Shui to Ko Lau Wan, and proceed to Event Centre on foot. Please refer to plan attached.
Event Centre
1. Event Centre is located at football pitch at Tan Ka Wan. (KK 283 850)
2. It takes 20 minutes from Ko Lau Wan Pier to Event Centre, signs will be erected along the way.
3. There is toilet near Event Centre. (5-minute walk)
4. Physiotherapy will be provided at Event Centre.
5. Official time will be displayed at Event Centre.
6. CL-2 competitors will collect their number bibs at the Event Centre.
7. No drink or food is available at the Event centre
8. Fire is forbidden in Event Centre. Please keep Event Centre clean and bring back all
your rubbish.
9. Please do not bring along any valuables as there will be any left luggage service at
the Event Centre
1. Most of the competition area comprises open grassland which is runable.
2. There are cattle within the competition area. Do not frighten them!
3. Please wear long-sleeve clothing to prevent from being injured by thick vegetation.
4. Water will be provided as location will be shown on the map or control description.
5. There has been a hill fire happened at the western part of the competition area recently and the affected area will be mapped as open land.

* Due to the large number of competitors in class H21, the course will be splitted into two parallel
courses : Course A & Course B with allocation of the respective classes according to the above
table.
2. For courses A & B, there will be a star orienteering format arranged in the middle of the courses.
Competitors are required to visit the same control several times during the competition according to the following example(abstracted from the Event Information of the HKOC Championships 2004-2005) :

After the competitor goes from control no.3 to the control no.4 which is the start of the star orienteering section, he continues to visit control no. 5, 6 and then 7(the same control site as control no.4). After control no.7, he proceeds to control no. 8 , 9 and then 10(same control site as control nos. 4 & 7). After that, he proceeds to control no.11. In short, the control nos. 4, 7 and 10 are located at the same control site with the same control code of which the competitor has to visit thrice. Please remember to punch the control every time you visit it or otherwise you will be disqualified by the missing control record(s).
3. Course descriptions will be displayed at Event Centre.
4. Time limit of the competition is 150 minutes.
Starting Procedure
1.
It takes about 20
minutes to walk from Event Centre to Start. The distance is about
600 m with ascent 100 m. Signs will be put along the way.
2. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to start time.
3. Please put on number cloth in front of chest and have compass, whistle and electronic control card ready. Only competitors who have all these equipment are allowed to start.
4. A “2-minute zone” system will be used at Start. The time shown at Start is Entry Time. Please enter the first box of the “2-minute zone”.
5. Enter the last box 1 minute before start. Place the electronic control card on “start unit” at the same time.
6. Competitors may start and take map only after hearing the last beep. It is the responsibility of the competitor to check if the he/she gets the correct map before leaving the Start.
7. Competitors taking wrong maps will be disqualified.
8. Latecomers must report to the officials at Start. They will be arranged to start at the late starting line. The time lost will not be compensated.
Finishing Procedure and Result Processing
1. Competitors must report to Finish within the course time limit whether he/she completes the course or not.
2. At finish, “punch” the electronic control card at the “finish unit”, that time will be recorded as finish time.
3. Maps will not be collected at Finish. However, finishers should not disclose it to competitors waiting for start.
4. After crossing the finish line, proceeds towards the end of the finish chute immediately to avoid congestion at Finish. Please queue up and hand in your back-up label according to the finishing order before leaving the finish area.
5. Result processing counter is located at Event Centre.
6. Competitors are advised to process results at their earliest convenience. Competitors bear their own responsibility if there is any damage or data lost during the way back to Event Centre.
7. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Finish to Event Centre (800 m), signs will be erected along the way.
Electronic Punching and Timing System (EPTS)
1. Please browse the OAHK web-site for details about EPTS .
2. Champion League Competitors should take their own e-cards while the number bibs, safety pins and back-up labels will beavailable at the Event Centre. In case competitors forget to take electronic control card, they need to pay $50 hiring fee and $250 deposit, which will be refundable when card returned. (Spare cards are limited and will be served on a first-come-first-serve basis).
3. Ensure the electronic card number corresponds to the number shown on Start List. Otherwise, please contact OAHK as soon as possible for correction.
4. Competitors using others’ electronic card or taking other competitor’s place will be disqualified.
5. Please write down your competition number on the back-up labels or otherwise you will not get any back-up proof for visiting the controls in case of the mal-fuction of the EPTS.
Rules
1. The “Technical Standard and Competition By-laws for Open Orienteering Event applies to this Event.
2. No other aids allowed except equipment aforementioned.
3. Loss of e-card will be considered as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), but competitors shall report to Finish.
4. Competitor who move or damage any facilities will be disqualified.
5. The organiser has the right to amend any competition rules without prior notice to competitors. The amendment, if any, will be displayed at Event Centre.
6. Competitors may not camp or stay overnight in the competition area beforehand or otherwise disqualified.
7. For safety, please report to Finish or Event Centre before within 150 minutes after your start.
Complaint
1. All complaints on the event or result shall be made verbally to the organiser within 15 minutes after the final result has been announced. A complaint fee of $50 will be collected and it may only be returned if the complaint is justified. The organiser will record the appeal and its decision.
2. All protest made against the organiser‘s decision about complaints must be made verbally to the Event Controller.
3. All appeal made against the controller‘s decision about protest must be made verbally to the Technical Committee after the competition. But the decision of the organiser and the controller on result of competitors is final, appeal cannot be made to the Technical Committee.
Remarks
1. If there are any changes of this event information, announcement will be made by organizer on the competition day.
2. All competitors shall ensure their own safety and belongings. The organizers will not bear any responsibilities.
3. The organizer does not provide a cloakroom and will not be responsible for loss of belongings. Consequently, competitors are advised not to bring valuables.
4. If the Honk Kong Observatory issues the thunderstorm signal, a rainstorm red/black warning or the No.3 (or above) tropical cyclone warning signal by 0600 on the competition day, then this event will be postponed. All competitors will be informed of the new date for this event.
