1. Competitors have to take public
transport to the Event Area at Peng Chau.
2.
Competitors can take the First
Ferry from Pier 6 at Central District to Peng Chau
and
the ferry schedule between
7am to 11am on the event day is as follows : 7am(Fast);
7.50am(Ordinary); 8.40am(Fast); 9.30am(Ordinary) & 10.20am(Fast).

3.
The traveling time for
Ordinary Ferry and Fast Ferry are about 40-45 minutes and 30
minutes respectively.
4.
Allow more time for traveling as more passengers are expected on the
event day due to the Ching Ming Festival.

Event
Centre
1.
The Event Centre is located at Waterfront Playground
of Peng Chau (GR 50QJK767487).
2.
The Event Centre is just about 40 metres at the north of the Peng
Chau Ferry Pier.
3.
Toilets are not available at the Event Centre.
Competitors can use the toilet and changing room inside the Peng
Chau Sports Centre, direction sign will be set up at the Event Centre.
4.
Physiotherapy service will be provided at the Event
Centre.
5.
Official time will be displayed at the Event Centre.
6.
No fire is allowed inside the Event Centre. Please
keep the Event Centre clean and take all rubbish away.
7.
Competitors are advised not to bring valuable items
with them. The organizer will not provide competitors with storage facility and
will not be responsible for loss of any belongings.
Electronic
Punching and Timing System (EPTS)
1.
Please refer to the attached information regarding
EPTS for details.
2.
Competitors have to use the same number cloth
throughout the Champion League events.
Please keep it in good shape!
3.
Competitors should take their own control card and
number cloth (safety pins available at Event Centre). In case competitors forget to take
electronic control card, they need to pay $50 hiring fee and $150 deposit,
which will be refundable when card returned. (Spare cards are limited and will be
served on a first-come-first-serve basis).
If competitors forget to take number cloth, a $5 will be collected as
processing fee.
4.
Ensure the electronic card number corresponds to the
number shown on Start List.
Otherwise, please contact OAHK as soon as possible for correction.

Control descriptions will be displayed and available
at the Event Centre.
3.
Course time for
all courses is 60 minutes.
1.
Map scale will be 1 :2,500 with 2 m contour
interval, 2004 version. The dimension of the map is 300mm x 210mm. Distance
between the north lines is 100m.
2.
The competition map is drawn in accordance with the
Internal Specification for Sprint Orienteering Map(ISSOM)-Fianl
Draft dated 28 February 2003. For details, please browse the Website www.swisshiking.ch/gloor/iof.
3.
As compared with the normal Foot Orienteering map,
there are some major changes and new symbols used in the map for this event,
these include :
(i)
All roads, pavements and paved paths will be
represented with symbol paved area (529)-light brown
(ii) Stone wall,
ruined stone wall and ruin will be represented with symbol passable wall
(519.1) ¡V a thick grey line.
(ii)
High Stone wall will be represented by symbol
impassable wall (521.1) ¡V a thick black line.
(iii)
Grave will be represented with symbol special man
made feature (540) ¡V a black circle.
(iv)
Lone tree will be represented with symbol 419 - a
green dot.
(v)
Monument will be represented with symbol 541 ¡V a
black outlined triangle.
(vi)
Steps of a stairway will be represented in
generalized manner with symbol 529.1 ¡V black lines.
(vii)
Building and private canopy will be represented with
symbol building (526.1) ¡V dark grey polygon. Only public accessible canopy will
be represented with symbol canopy (526.2) ¡V light grey polygon.
Figure inside the
bracket is the symbol number of the ISSOM, Samples of the about symbols with
respective photos will be displayed at the Event Centre.
4.
Due to the narrowness of some walkways inside the
competition area which
may be crowded with people during competition time, these areas will bemarked as walking zone and will be shown by purple hatch
lines on the map.
Competitor are only allowed to walk within these area and running is
strictly forbidden. Violation of
this regulation will lead to disqualification.
Information of the
Competition Area
1. Built up area with residential houses,
shops and restaurants.
2.
Access within the competition area consists of paved
walkways and streets(95%)
and unpaved paths(5%).
3.
Mainly flat, internal height differences 0-25m.
4.
Under normal circumstances, no motorized traffic
runs on the island. However,
ambulance and fire-engines may be running on the island in the event of
emergency.
5.
Please also take care of the bicycles running on the
island.
6.
Please give way to the pedestrians and take serious
attention of not bumping
into them.
7.
Competitors will be disqualified if they :
(i)
Pass features which shown as impassable on the map,
e.g. High Stone wall, Impassable Fence;
(ii)
Enter private area or flower bed which shown by
symbol area with forbidden access(527.1)-green 50% plus yellow 100%;
(iii)
Enter orchard or cultivated lands
Please be reminded that one third of the competition area falls within
above classification and don¡¦t be caught in this trap!
(iv)
During the period from 6am to 2pm on the Event Day,
without the prior approval from the Organiser, enter
the competition area before or after his/her own race.
Starting Procedure
1.
The distance between the Event Centre and the Start
Area is about 100m. Please follow the marked route to the Start. Failure to do
so will LEAD TO DISQUALIFICATION.
2.
Please
arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your start time.
3.
Please put on number cloth in front of chest and
have compass, whistle and electronic
control card with you. Competitors
without any of above item are not allowed to start.
4.
A ¡§2-minute zone¡¨
system will be used at Start. The time shown at Start is Entry Time. Competitors¡¦ number will be announced
2 minutes before his/her actual start time. Please enter the first box of
the ¡§2-minute zone¡¨.
5.
Enter the
last box 1 minute before start. Write down your competition number on the back
of the map and then place the electronic control card on the Start Unit.
6.
Competitors may start
and take map only after hearing the last beep. Please check if the information on map,
such as class entered, is correct. Competitors taking wrong maps will be
disqualified. Competitors
are not allowed to stay at the Start Area.
7.
Latecomers must report to the officials at Start. They will be arranged to start at the
late starting line. The time lost will not be compensated.
Finishing Procedure and Result Processing
1.
Competitors must report to Finish within 60 minutes
after they have started, no matter have the course completed or electronic
control card lost. All courses will be closed at 1300 hrs. At finish, ¡§punch¡¨
the electronic control card at the ¡§finish unit¡¨, that time will be recorded as
finish time. Please hand in the back up label to the Finish Officials
Maps
will be collected at the Finish.
2.
Leave for Event Centre in order to avoid congestion
at Finish. Competitors are advised
to process results at their earliest convenience. Competitors bear their own responsibility
if there is any damage or data lost during the journey.
3.
Result
processing counter is located at Event Centre.
4.
Competitors who had rented the e-card from OAHK
should return the e-card soonest possible after completing the downloading of
the result. Deposit will be refunded.
Rules
1.
The ¡§Orienteering
Competition By-law¡¨ of the OAHK will be applied to this competition.
2.
No other
aids allowed except equipment aforementioned.
3.
Loss of
e-card will be considered as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), but competitors shall report
to Finish.
4.
Competitor
who move or damage any facilities will be disqualified.
5.
Competitors
may not stay in the competition area beforehand or otherwise disqualified.
6.
For safety,
please report to Finish or Event Centre before 1300 after your start.
7.
Competitors
should obey the instruction of the Organiser..
8.
The Organiser has the right to amend any competition rules
without prior notice to competitors.
The amendment, if any, will be displayed at Event Centre.
9.
Violation
of competition rules will lead to disqualification.
10.
All competitors must respect the right of other
competitors and road user during competition. Competitors do not have a
priority of right of way.
1. A
complaint can be made about infringements of the OAHK ¡§Orienteering Competition By-law¡¨ or the organiser¡¦s
directions. Any complaint shall be made orally or in writing to the organiser as soon as possible. A complaint relating to a
competitor¡¦s result shall be made within 15 minutes after the promulgation of
the result. A complaint is adjudicated by the organiser.
The complainant shall be informed about the decision immediately.
2. A
protest can be made against the organiser¡¦s decision
about a complaint. Any protest shall be made in writing to the organiser/a member of the jury as soon as possible and
within 30 minutes of the organiser¡¦s decision about a
complaint.
Remarks
1. If
there are any changes of this event information, announcement will be made by
organizer on the competition day.
2. All competitors shall ensure their own safety and
belongings. The organizers will not
bear any responsibilities.
3. The organizer does not provide a cloakroom and will not be
responsible for loss of belongings. Consequently, competitors are advised not
to bring valuables.
4. If the Honk Kong Observatory issues the thunderstorm signal,
a rainstorm red/black warning or the No.3 (or above) tropical cyclone warning
signal by 0600 on the competition day, then this event will be postponed. All
competitors will be informed of the new date for this event.
