1           It will take you 20-30 min. (length 750m; climb 75m) to reach Start Area from Event Centre. Must reach there by specified route, offenders will be disqualified.

2           Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your start time.

3           Pin your number bib in front so that it is clearly visible to all. Also have your compass and whistle ready. Officials will inspect the above-mentioned 3 items; competitors not having any of such are not allowed to start. During the race, if the no. bib has not been properly displayed, it may lead to your disqualification. Please use the ecard registered for this event.

4           Actual event time will be displayed. Start interval is 15 min, please arrive at the specified interval. During the same interval, the starting order is ‘first come first serve’, so please queue up. Competitors have to enter the ‘rear box’ 2 minutes before start.

5           When the ‘one minute signal’ sounds, competitors may advance to the ‘front box’. Write down your competition no. at the back of the map/plastic bag, then insert it in the plastic bag provided. It is your responsibility to check the map to confirm if it is your class. Those taking the wrong maps will be disqualified. Competitors may start reading the map after entering this ‘box’

6           The ecard has to be put on the Start Unit for at least 6 sec. Remove it when red flashes are seen; otherwise, the system will not be able to do proper recording. Leave the Start immediately afterwards. Competitors are not allowed to linger in the area between the Start and the Start Triangle.

7           FAMILY class members must all arrive at the Start area before they are allowed to start. Such group will only have a max. of 2 maps.

8           Latecomers must follow the instructions of Start Officials. They have to undergo the usual checking procedure. Time lost will not be compensated. Punctual competitors will be served first.

Finish Procedure and Result Processing

1.            Maps will not be collected after your race. You have the responsibility of not disclosing any information therein to those not yet started.

2.            Place the ecard on the “Finish Unit” for recording your finish time. You are not allowed to re-enter the field. Leave for result download as soon as possible to avoid congestion at Finish. Competitors bear their own responsibility if there is any damage or data lost during such transition.

3.            Please follow indication signs to Result Processing Counter, which is located within the Event Centre. Distance from the Finish to the Event Centre is about 15 min. (length: 550m; climb: 75m). Hand in the back-up labels to the Result-processing Officials

4.            For this event, all competitors must put their cards over 2 different units; one for printing while the other is for downloading their results. This must be done before end of event. Anyone not fulfilling this will be disqualified. If you have uncertainties about the success of result downloading, raise your questions at once, no follow-up of such will be made after the afore-mentioned deadline.

1.            The “Orienteering Competition By-law” of the OAHK will be applied to this event.

6.            After taking the back-up labels at the Event Centre, competitors should write down your competitor number on such, then place them properly onto your ecards. The data on such labels will be used as the back-up record in case your ecards broke down.

7.            Ecards may only be inserted in the designated direction on the unit shoe; competitors have to make sure that they are correctly inserted with the back-up label facing the unit. If ever neither the ecard nor the back-up label can proof your visit to a certain control, competitors would have no right to launch a complaint on system failure.

8.            After leaving the Finish, competitors should refrain from placing their ecards on any other units, so that we may be able to refer to the stored records again.

9.            Individual result slips are for reference only; you should refer to the results announced at the Event Center.

10.         If ever ecards are mis-punched:

I.              Wrong order: go back to the one initially planned; continue from there in sequence
