About the area The Middle Distance Event will be held at Tung Wan Tau. The competition area is dominated by fast running rough open area with small patches of light green to dark green around river valleys.  Young plantations can also be found within the competition area.  Some parts of the valley floors are covered by marshes. Patches of erosive areas covered by loose sands and gravels in the competition area are mapped as ‘Open Sandy Ground’. Please be careful when running on this area and competitors are advised to wear orienteering shoes with metal studs. Insects such as mosquitoes, bees and also thorny branches are likely to appear in the competition area and competitors are strongly advised to have full body covers. There is a popular hiking trail on the west side of the competition area and competitors are advised to run at safe speed and give way to the hikers.
