| About the area | The Middle Distance Event will be held at Tung Wan Tau. The competition area is dominated by fast running rough open area with small patches of light green to dark green around river valleys. Young plantations can also be found within the competition area. Some parts of the valley floors are covered by marshes. Patches of erosive areas covered by loose sands and gravels in the competition area are mapped as ‘Open Sandy Ground’. Please be careful when running on this area and competitors are advised to wear orienteering shoes with metal studs. Insects such as mosquitoes, bees and also thorny branches are likely to appear in the competition area and competitors are strongly advised to have full body covers. There is a popular hiking trail on the west side of the competition area and competitors are advised to run at safe speed and give way to the hikers. | ||||||||||||||||
| Vegetation | Due to the abundant rainfall in the previous summer season, vegetation | ||||||||||||||||
| change | on ground in some areas is thicker than that appears on the map, this may | ||||||||||||||||

| Start & Finish | There is only one start : | ||||||||||||||||
| The distance from Event Centre to Start is about 750m with an ascent of about | |||||||||||||||||
| 200m. It take about 25 minutes. | |||||||||||||||||
| Route to start will be marked. | |||||||||||||||||
| Warm up maps will be given on the way to start. | |||||||||||||||||
| Limited water will be available at the start. | |||||||||||||||||

| The distance from Finish to Event Centre is about 2200m with descent of | |||||||||||||||||
