百米定向賽區的面積，比傳統野外定向賽事細小得多(即不超逾100米x100米)，賽程耗時只需數分鐘。賽事以淘汰制進行，約8名運動員會被安排一起出發，以爭取出線權。每名運動員的賽程，與其對手都有些微分別，故此運動員不能單靠跟隨對手完成賽事。百米定向的最大特色，是其比傳統野外定向賽事快速、刺激、以及高觀賞性。

The competition area of the 100-M orienteering is much smaller than the traditional orienteering (not larger than 100m x 100m). It takes only a few minutes to complete the course. The competition will be in a knock-out format. In the first round, approximate 8 athletes compete in a group for qualifying to the next round. The course planning of each athlete will be different from others of the same group so they cannot complete the course by following the others. 100-M orienteering is a high speed, exciting and most spectacular event.

                         有關電子控制咭之補充資料

所有賽員需憑賽員編號在上午9時至10時30分前往賽事中心登記，領取號碼布、電子控制咭及備份標纖(請在標纖上寫上賽員編號) ，賽員並須在電子控制咭借用表上簽署。

未能進入決賽的賽員請到賽事中心歸還電子控制咭，而進入決賽的賽員請於成績下載及處理後盡快交還電子控制咭到成績計算站。

請注意該電子控制咭為香港野外定向總會財產，各賽員在比賽期間有責任妥善保管，若有遺失或損毁，賽員必須賠償港幣$300給予香港野外定向總會。
