Transportation

1.    No transportation will be provided.

2.    Competitors can take the following public transports :

New Lantao Bus Bus Route 3M (Mui Wo to and fro Tung Chung Old Pier/Tung Chung Town Centre)

Event Centre

1.     The event centre is located at the Chi Man Wan Road Football Court (Playground). Competitors must enter the Event Centre via  Chi Man Wan Road or competitors will be disqualified.

2.     Temporary toilet and changing room are located at the Event Centre. Please keep the place clean.

3.     The official time will be shown at the Event Centre 

4.     No luggage storage service will be provided.

5.     Be a clean orienteer, please keep the whole event area clean.

6.     Physiotherapy & First Aid Services will be provided at the Event Centre.

7.     Area except Event Centre, Chi Man Wan Road between Start, Finish and Campsite, are out of bound.

    (Note: The campsite will be closed at 9am, December 6, 2009)

 

 

START procedures

1.     The Start of qualifying race is 130m away from the Event Centre.  

2.     Please arrive at the START 5 minutes before the start time.

3.     Please ensure that compass, whistle and E-card are ready for checking.

4.     A “2-minute box” zone is employed and the START clock shows the official time.

5.     Please enter the “first box” when your start time is shown.

6.     Please hand your E-card to the start official for checking and the IOF control description slip will be distributed.

7.     Please check if the information on map, such as class entered, is correct. Competitors taking wrong maps will be disqualified.

8.     Please enter the last box. Place the E-card on the start unit and start upon hearing the last beep.

9.     Latecomers must report to the late-start official at the late-start lane. Time lost will not be compensated.

 

 

Remarks for START

1.     Start interval for Qualifying Race 30 seconds and Final Race is 1 minute.

2.     At least 6 seconds before start, competitors must activate their e-cards by placing them on the “Start Unit” until the red light flashes, and otherwise no running time will be recorded.

3.     Competitors must remove the e-cards from the “Start Unit” when the starter gives a long beep signal for starting.

 

 

 

Arrangement of Final Race

1.            The first 45 places of Men’s and the athletes of Women class in the Qualifying Race can enter the Final Race. All the remaining competitors can also enter the Final Race as guest runners.

   2     The start order of Final Race will be assigned according to the results of Qualifying Race. The start order shall be the reverse of the placing in Qualifying Race, i.e. the best competitors shall start late. Alternate start will be arranged for Men’s A & B Group.

                                                        

 

Information on competition venue and map

1.     The main competition area  is located at south of Lantau Road beyond the villages.

2.     Competition area mostly covers with grass with some marshes. The size of marsh may be vary from the map under different weather conditions. Some marshes may be more than 70cm in depth. Take care of the rugged grassland.

3.    The course of final race will pass the roads. Please be aware of bicycles and vehicles.

4.    There are thistles and thorns in the competition area. Full cover (long sleeves) orienteering suit are required.

5.    There will be no water point arranged.

6.    Water Buffaloes are found in the area. Don’t scare them and their calf.

7.   Power lines and poles are not mapped.

8.    Some large scale dumping are found.

9.  Full set of spare clothing is useful after getting wet.

10. The competition area has many visitors, competitors have no priority in path access. Competitors should respect other user. In case of any accident occurred or collision, the competitors will be disqualified.

2.     The competition time limit for Men/Women qualifying and final race is 30 minutes.

  

FINISH procedures and Result processing

1.     The Finish of Qualifying Race is about 300m away from the Event Centre.

2.     Competitors must report to the Finish or Event Centre, no matter finish the course or loss of e-card.

3.     When reaching the finish line, you must punch your E-card at the finish unit which records your course completion time. Please hand in your back-up label to the finish official before leaving the FINISH.

4.       You are not allowed to return to the competition area after leaving the FINISH and must head for result processing at the event centre.

5.       Maps will be collected and it is against OL rules and ethnics to disclose the map to competitors who have not yet started. Otherwise competitors will be disqualified.

6.       Every competitor has to download the result at result processing counter. Any competitors who forget to download result before the event closing time will be regarded as disqualified (DISQ).

 

Remarks for FINISH

   1      As soon as competitors arrive at the Finish, please place the e-cards at the Finish Control, the time-count will stop accordingly. Please hand in your back-up label to the finish official after crossing the finishing line.

   2.      After that, please follow the signposts/indication cards to the Result Processing Station to download your results.

 

Remarks:

1.    Competitions can use the Pui O Campsite managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/camp/en/p_ng_po.php). 

The campsite will become the out of bound area at 9am, December 6, 2009.

2.    A Mapping Demo Zone about 100m long will be arranged. A photocopying map can be obtained for every competitor.

3.    A spectator area will be setup at 2pm.

4.   Any change in this Event Information will be displayed at the event centre on the day of the competition.

5.    You shall be responsible for your own safety and legal responsibility.

6.    If a thunderstorm warning, any rainstorm warning or a NO. 3 or above tropical cyclone warning signal is in effect

at 0730 hours on the competition day, this event will be cancelled and you will be informed of the arrangement

through the OAHK official website http://www.oahk.org.hk.

 


 

 

 Competition rules

1.    No aids other than maps provided and equipment items permitted by organizer should be used.

2.    Loss of E-card is considered as DNF and you are required to report to the FINISH or Event Centre.

3.    Competitors who move or damage any competition facilities will be charged for replacement.

4.    To facilitate the flow of the competition and for your safety, you are required to report to the FINISH or event centre regardless of course incompletion, otherwise “Missing” will be counted.

5.    All rules and regulations must be well observed and obeyed.

6.    Organiser has the right to amend any regulations without prior notice and all amendments will be displayed at the event centre on the competition day.

7.     Violation of competition rules and regulations will lead to disqualification.

8.     In entering the competition area & the Event Centre, competitors cannot wear shoes with metal studs.

9.    The competition area has many visitors, competitors have no priority in path access. Competitors should respect other user. In case of any accident occurred or collision, the competitors will be disqualified

 

Complaint & Protest

1.      Complaints related to result must be made in writing to the organizer and leave the contact telephone number within 15 minutes after the result release by the organizer. .

2.     Protests raised against the jury’s decision shall be made in writing to the organizer within 30 minutes after the release of the jury’s decision.

 

E-punching and timing

1.     EMIT EPTS will be employed for this event.

2.     Competitors should bring their own e-cards which completed in the entry form. Those who forget to bring should pay rental fee of HK$50 and deposit of HK$250 at a “first-come first-served basis.

3.    Competitors should write down their competitors’ numbers in the front of their backup labels before start. If the organizer has doubt on a particular punch record of an e-card, records of the backup label will be considered as a valid counter-check tool.

 

 

Essential Information for Electronic Punching and Timing System

    1.  No Competitor may refuse to use the “electronic punching and timing system” unless the organizer has issued the Notice of Malfunction of the aforesaid system.

   2.  The running time will be calculated based on the records in the e-cards. If the organizer has doubt on a particular punch record of an e-card, records of the backup label will be considered as a valid counter-check tool. In case both of them have no record, that  particular punch record will be deemed voided.

 

Start

   1.  At least 6 seconds before start, competitors must activate their e-cards by placing them on the “Start Unit” until the red light flashes, and otherwise no running time will be recorded.

   2. Competitors must remove the e-cards from the “Start Unit” when the starter gives a long beep signal for starting.

 

During competition

It is the competitors’ own responsibility to insert the e-card into the e-punch correctly. In fact, e-cards can only be inserted into the e-punch in one direction. If both the e-card and backup label cannot record a particular punch record, system malfunction will not be considered as a valid reason for appeal.

 

Finish

 1.      As soon as competitors arrive at the Finish, please place the e-cards at the Finish Control, the time-count will stop accordingly,

 2.     After that, please follow the signposts/indication cards to return to the Event Centre and report to the Result Processing Station. After our officials have collected your backup label and have downloaded the records from your e-card, you may obtain your result slip from the mini-time recorder for reference.

 

Result Processing and Display

1.     Please do not insert your e-card into any Start Unit or e-punch after the completion of your race.  By not doing so, your punch records will be retained for counter-check purpose.

2.     Results of late starters will be processed separately. The final results   displayed by the organizer will be conclusive; results from the mini-time recorder are for reference only.

 

 

Competitors cannot conduct any activity relating to orienteering at the competition area until the end of the race!
